Web greetings sites are bit boring these days, I have almost stopped using them. I still feel actual greeting card will have more value than these web greetings. But these days we are so lazy, we do almost everything on web including paying bills, transferring money…etc. Obviously we don’t have time to goto greeting shop to pick one & post it/courier it.

Here comes Papam.in, where you can find collection of greeting cards for almost all occasions. Select a card & customize it with your own words or keep the default one. Enter recipient’s postal address & pay the money. Done, greeting card will reach recipient in 7 days. Greeting cards are priced at as low as Rs.39 including shipping. You can also buy a package of Rs.500,Rs.1000,Rs.2000 & Rs.5000 where you can get discounts. You can either pay for as much as you purchase or buy credits through packages mentioned above & use it for sending greeting cards.

As per my knowledge Papam is the only player in this business. Start sending greetings at Papam.in

Environmental threats from IT Companies

Prashanth on October 15th, 2007

I totally forgot about Blog Action day, a day when thousands of bloggers around the world write about same topic, environment. Here are few threats made to environment from IT Industry:

  1. E-waste: Companies disposing unwanted computers & other peripherals which are not bio degradable.
  2. Using glasses for buildings: Many IT companies uses glasses for their buildings to make it good looking. But this causes increase in temperature surround & inside building. Hence air conditioners consumes lot of electricity. Another disadvantage is Birds often dashes these glasses because of its reflectiveness.
  3. Ups Batteries: All IT companies uses huge UPSs to prevent data loss due to power cut. These UPSs uses huge batteries which may be recycled. I know a company which buys these batteries to recycle. You can contact me for more on this.

IT-Kannadiga’s Protest Against Cauvery Verdict

Prashanth on February 19th, 2007

IT employees of different companies made a protest against cauvery verdict at Bangalore yesterday. I had been there yesterday & now posting some highlights over here. We had requested governor to request central government to not bring this verdict in Gazette. After protest we had a meeting & here are some points:

1) We will fight until we get justice. This is just the beginning.
2) This new community will not only bound to Cauvery Issue, but also fight against injustice happening to Kannadigas in many areas.
3) Will fight against IT companies which are not allowing kannadigas for job openings.
4) Building a web site of its own.

I hope to see more & more people in next protest or meeting.
