  22. Hai. I have an imate jasjam. My brother in law was using it in Saudi. He gave it to me. Its new, not much used. I bought a vodafone prepaid connection and installed the sim. Its working fine for some time then the network goes off. Only the network. All other features of the phone is working perfect. The network gets deactivated on its on after some time, then i have to go to the Comm manager and activate it again by switching it off and on again. Then it will be active for some then again goes off. Why is this happening this way? Is it some wrong configuration in the mobile? I have not changed any setting/configuration after i receieved this windows mobile. The only thing i did was installed a Sim card. When i try to make a call, a message pops up saying either the network is unavailable or the number is wrong. But after refreshing(switching on and off) the network in comm manager it works. Is it a software bug or some setting error? I talked to my BIL he told it was working perfect for him even a month ago. Can you please help me? An email reply to my personal email will help me.

Anyway, the reason I’m writing to you is to find out (for me boss) if there are reasonable alternatives to the iPhone. Left to me, I would have gone in for a Neo Freerunner but I doubt if me boss can handle a Linux phone. He is a bio-technologist, a tech savvy one at that and an Apple fan.

    G1 is released in US yesterday & I have no idea about it. No idea when it will be launched in India also!

    I have a BSNL 750 plus for my BB. I am constantly getting Rs 1200 bill. Now am moving to 250 start up plan. I constantly use the net to check mail and Skype to chat with friends in the US. I want to clarify the below mentioned issues.

    1) what do you they mean by download 1 GB in 250 startup plan. (Assume that I use the mail a lot and you have many ads and images on the mail, will those be considered as downloads)
    2) As mentioned above I use SKYPE a lot (Voice chat) will it effect with respect to downloads Kindly clarify.

    1) 1GB = 1024 MB, 1MB=1024kb.. nd it continues.. So u’ll have to learn the computer fundas for it. And there is no simple logic to calculate the amount of usage unless u r using a metering software. The amount of usage depends what kinda sites you open.. For instance text consumes the minimum space as compared to image and videos and songs consumes max. bandwidth..

    2) Personally I don’t think 1GB of bandwidth ‘ll suffice for you as you said you use a lot of data while having voice chat..

    If you are on Airtel and want to use free GPRS trick than u’ll have to first activate Airtel Live by calling customer care

    I don’t think HP, Dell, Lenovo etc.. must be manufacturing a laptop with that range..

    But you may surely get 1 from Zenith or Acer suiting your budget :)

    You can go for Asus EEEPC 904 HD which costs you around 20-21k. It is portable too, less weight, 80GB hard disc, comes with windows XP, inbuilt web cam. I think it’s perfect for you :)

Thank you so much for the info =)I also found out that Acer One is 23.5k and comes preloaded with Win XP, Intel Atom, 1gig of RAM and 160GB which is pretty good but I somehow don’t trust Acer that much due to my experiences in the past. I so wish Dell Mini was available in India. Also, I haven’t heard much about Zenith laptops, what’s the general opinion? are they good? I heard they just replace your laptop in case of a problem if its under warranty, is that true?!?

    I’ve got nokia e51 handset and recently got airtel connection. I subscribed to Airtel Online(99rs.pack). Can you suggest how can I confirgure mail for exchange setting in this. Customer care are a pain… I am not a tech savvy guy but ofcourse can follow your instructions. Need to also knw if airtel online is sufficient to access my offical mail(ie. mail for exchange)
