New Apple iPhone 3GS price in India – My Predictions

Apple has announced the new iPhone 3GS few days back & claims that it’s 2X fater than the old iPhones & comes with 3.2MP camera capable of recording videos. With this announcement Apple also reduced the price of iPhone 3G 8GB to $99. The new iPhone 3GS 16GB & 32GB are available at $199 & $299 respectively. But the fact is that all these prices mentioned above are applicable only if you sign 2 year contract with AT & T & so applies only in US. Price of iPhone 3G S without contract are $599 & $699 respectively for 16GB & 32GB (Source: PC World).

So, as per my predictions, iPhone 3G 8GB in India might drop to around 23k to 25k from present 31k rupees. If you are dreaming about getting it for 5k, forget it!! Similarly new iPhone 3GS 16GB model might be priced around 30k to 33k rupees & 32GB model at around 35k to 38k.

This is what it’s going to be until unless Apple takes Indian market seriously. In that case Apple might reduce price of iPhone 3G 8GB to in around 15 to 20k, but I seriously doubt it! Let’s wait for the official announcements & see how good I am at predictions!! By the way, what’s your prediction?

    well I was expecting i need to buy i fone but as people mentioned b4 apple doesn't want their product in common people hand as far as their softwares are concerned whether apple laptop or i fones this is not the normal windows mobile you can compatible with any laptop you can not utilize this properly if you haven't any apple i fone which is also an expensive product in market apple should make it easy it's difficult for everyone to use this as it is now first if all expensive products secondly tricky to use

  • in US, iPhone price is very similer to what exist in indian market. There are little difference however.

    $199 is just for Phone, + $250 contract if you break the contract you have to pay that money. So effectively $450 (Rs. 22000).

    And that contract is for two year, there is no such case in india. So you are paying 30K and use at ur will or even jail break it.

    According to me Apple will stop selling 8gig model in india, because Apple never want his product in common ppl hands.

    predicting the price for apple is like impossible as we have seen at the time of iPhone 3G launch...the market of US and India are different...i have some link which clears your doubts........

    Its not $70/mnth for 2 yrs an extra $30/mnth for 2 years coz u still have to pay a minimum for using the service.

    iphone 3gs costs around 725$ in america..without contract..
    remember if the americans are getting iphone for 99$ , they are paying 70$ month for the contract for two years....

    i do agree with ur price tags............

    3g 8 gb will cost around 26k

    3gs 8gb for 33

    3gs 16 gb for 38

    3gs 32gb for 43



    Also....it should be noted that Apple is a premium brand ..they will not try to increasing market volume with a price reduction........They never had done that..as in the case of macbooks nd ipods.....

    Even I am not sure about whether they are going to sell locked or un-locked phones. But Airtel is one of the very few service provider across the globe which is allowed to sell officially unlocked phones. Vodafone India don't have that permission. So probably Airtel could do it, may be price tags will be different. Let's see...

    I guess you are right..they would put in the same strategy as else where..but i guess the phone would still be locked to some network. Are iPhone 3GS @ 599 USD network independent or they are network locked but contract free..
