Hi, I am using Ktech K899 (chinese mobile). The WAP settings have been configured as mentioned above for Vodafone Bangalore. IT DOESNT WORK!. Customer care asked to keep the Access point name as “www” instead of “portalnmms”. Customer care also asked to keep the IP address as 0.0.0.0 and home page as “http://” only.

If you are able to browse other web pages,
Then you should be able to access Gmail or Yahoo!
Try allowing cookies in settings & re check.
For gmail you can also try http://gmobile.sayni.net
Don’t get Mail Alerts from Gmail.Though I receive alerts from hotmail and rediffmail

hi… recently i bought a new nokia handset(6300)..previously i was using nokia 6070..there seems to be a problem wheneveri use third party application like opera mini i get an error msg saying subscribe to data packet first…so i used the configuration that has been specified here..bt still i am not able to connect the application…..when i called these “customer care” guys they told me that hutch now does not supprt third party application which is a bit wierd coz lots of my friends are connect these third party applications.infact when i tried this thing again on my older phone opera mini was working fine and had no problems!!!!…
can any one help me out as to how to get these things right…plz dont ask me to get hold of these call center guys…their services are bcoming worse!!!!!

I am using Vodafone GPRS & able to browse in Opera Mini & also see Gmail in gmail application. This problem occur when application uses different settings than your wap browser. To fix this issue, create a custom settings as mentioned in this post & define access point manually. Now there should be an option which says “make default in all applications”, select that option.

hi thanx for the reply..well as i said in my last post i did try to set the configuration manually…i m able to browse net using the default browser..however in case of third party applications it shows loading for about 5 mins n then shows a msg not able to connect to the internet… i did use that default thing that u mentioned in here bt its of no use

I am Mohit Dhanjani from Ajmer and I have found a way to surf internet on iPhone.
So if you are likely to waste 199 Rs / Month and then the downloading rate too then here is the way.
The way is the VODAFONE MOBILE CONNECT.
Send activation SMS to 111 , ACT VMC199 (199 Rs/Month Rental) or see the charges at http://www.vodafone.in
Then… When Activated… I Prefer that do wait atleast for one day after sending SMS for the confirmation of activation.
Then
In iPhone… Go to Settings > General > Network > EDGE
Then
APN : www
And Username and Password Blank.
Believe Me, I Have used it and its awesome. And I do suggest you to do what I have said you even if it takes much Rs.

I don’t there’s any problem with your handset. I have personally seen my friends using gprs in chinese handsets. Better you contact your service provider or visit the nearest vodafone store.

Some GOOD news and some VERY BAD news..
Well first things first…
Its literally NO USE calling your Mobile Operator Customer Care (in my case Vodafone) in regard to settings for China phone coz they’re only willing to help if ur gonna buy a 30k odd Iphone I guess… They’ll tell you please come to the office with the handset so that they can configure the settings only to tell you (without even trying) that China Phones Wap and GPRS is very slow sir and it is not a success when actually the person who does the settings is not there… Fed up of their nonsense, I thought might as well give it a shot myself
I wrote down all the WAP settings from my SE W810i and tried configuring… (STEPS BELOW)
1. Select Menu / Services / WAP / Settings
Edit Profile – On selection, there is a list just select the first or any profile and u get two options
1. Activate Profile
2. Edit Profile
Select Edit Profile and edit the following fields as below:
1. Rename Profile: Vodafone_gprs
2. Homepage: http://live.vodafone.in
3. Data Account: Vodafone_gprs
4. Connection type u get three options:
Connection-oriented
1. IP Address: 010.010.001.100 give done
2. Security: Off
Connectionless
IP Address: 010.010.001.100
Security: Off
HTTP
Proxy Address: 010.010.001.100
Proxy Port: 9401 (NOTE: I think as mentioned above this is for Tamil Nadu, so whichever city or country your from ask for your mobile operator IP or Proxy whatever)
Select Done
That means don’t enter anything dumb ass
Save Settings if asked and Then give Activate Profile
Browser Options
Timeout: 300 by default, I just put 150 just in case a page takes too long to load
Show Images: On
Ok Save Yes
Then there is Data Account Below Wap
GSM Data (I just left this alone)
GPRS Select Edit
1. Account Name: Vodafone_gprs
2. APN: portalnmms
3. Username: (Leave Blank/None)
4. Password: (Leave Blank/None)
5. Auth. Type: Normal
I dont know about MMS coz I don’t usually use, but anyway just for safety I chose the second one under Data Accounts and edited as follows,
1. Account Name: Vodafone_MMS
2. APN: portalnmms
3. Username: (Leave Blank/None)
4. Password: (Leave Blank/None)
5. Auth. Type: Normal
BUT there is Under Messages Itself an option for MMS where in you have
Message Settings / Server Profile
Edit first profile to

In Menu / Settings / there is something called Network Setup under which you have GPRS Connection, there are two options When Needed or Always. Either works I guess I just left it on When Needed. (makes more sense)
The GOOD news… I can connect to vodafone live homepage via GPRS and google etc..
THE BAD NEWS Still There are a few issues… When it comes to downloading stuff it says either not compatible or some other error. Java is not downloading, Google maps and Opera Mini come as content not supported and though the model number says Starking V918 it says Gmaps is not compatible with your K – Touch A905!!! If anyone finds MMS working in China phones, please do update on the correct settings even for email regarding incoming/outgoing server/proxy IP, ports, etc, in case any settings were given wrong by me.
Looks like Im gonna have to go to the Vodafone Office again only for them to give me the same reply even if the WAP related person is going to be there that CHINA phones don’t work with GPRS and MMS…
So will have to forget about Email settings and stuff. I remember in 1945 err actually I mean in the early days of hutch a person came home and did my GPRS settings and also that time there was something called Hutch Access or something I guess where mail, etc can be seen. Let’s see what happens and btw SORRY for making it such a long post, but I do understand there are some people who need things spoon fed to them with each and every setting explained or else they will keep on posting HELP, HELLLLLP etc trying to show their desperation!!! Will update in case I get the settings right or else will have to chuck the phone even though it has Dual Sim active at the same time, Dual Bluetooth, Dual Cam, TV, FM, Touchscreen claims to have GPRS, EAR BLASTING sound, but for once this phone actually is crystal clear without jarring and shit like I heard in other phones and even the earphone effect is good unlike a few other china phones too… Overall, very good phone ALAS for the faulty GPRS… Do hope someone gets all issues sorted out soon and updates the site coz it would be a real shame if this phone turns out worthless…

I had similar problem with a China Set and believe me I have a simplest solution and it works for sure..!
Steps:
1. Send SMS for getting setting on your China Fone (You will not get them!)
2. Now after a day wait, change your sim to some of your frnds Non-China fone (which has GPRS)
3. Put back the SIM in your fone and tada – You will receive your Settings..
Believe me its gonna work..!
It worked for me and my frends several times..
[P.S: I was using China Set with Vodafone connection in Bangalore]
Well, I guess as Prashanth mentions that there might be a possibility that it will work if Vodafone Connect/Access or some GPRS extra paid crap they might be having 199 499 etc only china mobile GPRS might work, but even then I actually have a corporate connection which is supposed to already have that activated… Then I wonder how come I’ve not received the settings and as a guy above mentioned I had even removed the card and put it back in my other phone and put it back after sending a msg for the settings to 52586, but still did not receive the settings though I wd love to give it a try again… and furthermore as far as applications are concerned Im still not sure if they would download after doing the same.. As far as I remember I was able to connect to sites but no application got downloaded… Just came not compatible whereas my SE W810i has no issues with any such thing… Anyways due to the appreciation shown and also thanks to receiving commentator of the month October award (guess it came as a bday present
October 26) I will visit this site and further update on any success with the GPRS settings…

Im trying to use software like Opera Mini, Nimbuzz but in Nokia 5610 Im not able to use it as these softwares select the access point as HUTCH ACCESS even if i get a settings from you or from Vodafone.
Hutch Access is Settings>Config>prefered access pt.
And there is no delete option also

Iam having a chinese mobile with 2gsm and 1 cdma sims.I hve tried to set vodafone gprs in this phone but didnt succed.Some of the features mentioned in the above notes are not available in my phone.My phone model is LESON V106 chinese trisim.vodafone no.9645825313.tatadocomo-9037918782 and tataindicom-9249495499.I am residing in trivandrum,kerala.My email is ukvnarayan@yahoo.co.in .I have taken the mobile to vadafone store in vazhuthacaud,trivandrum and they have mannually set the settings.An amount of Rs.95 have been deducted towards the free gprs service by recharge.But whenever I try to connect,it shown that”GPRS is not subscribed”.Please help me.

That was the most accomplished on my China mobile. I guess there is something the Vodafone people just don't want to share or whether there are genuinely anyone who knows the settings to actually make all the services and protocols work in GPRS is doubtful. Downloads of stuff does not work. I guess it has something to do about the location or maybe software not supported on the phones because of compatibility error. Also thanks to the IMEI issue most China phones have stopped working as of Feb 2010. So those who are having dual sim working, good for u or await ur doomsday, and for those who have got one blocked alas we are in the same boat, TITANIC ; ) Thanks for the government screwing us over. They first let them sell millions of phones and then block them for a moneymaking frenzy for IMEI numbers and then those who didnt get BLAM ur cash is down the drain. Wonder if that was the case why they didnt give the option of getting the IMEI number whenever and not limited to a date. There are of course people who don't give a damn about getting an IMEI because unfortunately they are NOT terrorists, I know I will get one if available now, and make the dual sim be dual sim rather than single sim : (
