Finally! Tata Docomo launches unlimited GPRS plan for just Rs.95 per month!

Unlike other network providers who don’t care a shit about their customers & keep pushing their crappy tariff plans, Tata Docomo listens to customers! I wrote a post about Tata Docomo not being serious about GPRS plans & they commented on that post in a day saying they are going to launch unlimited plan soon. They just did what they promised!! I received a mail from them saying unlimited GPRS plan has been launched. Here is the email:

Hello Prashanth,

We can now announce that the long wait has finally ended. That’s right, TATA DOCOMO has launched another innovative offer in the country, Unlimited GPRS plans. Through the Unlimited GPRS plans, we aim to introduce GPRS plans at prices never seen before in the Indian telecom market. Unlimited GPRS plans will be introduced in two packages.

The first package will be the ‘Rs. 15 GPRS Pack’. This is a pre paid pack wherein a customer can recharge with Rs.15, and thereafter the customer will be allowed to access unlimited data for next 3 days by selecting Docomo internet APN on their handsets. The second package will be the ‘Rs. 95 GPRS Pack’. In this pack, the customer can recharge with Rs. 95, and thereafter the customer will be allowed to access unlimited data for the next 30 days. These packages will be applicable to TATADOCOMO home and roaming network only.

    hi Friends,
    Have u notice the hidden cost on tata docomo.
    they provide only free browsing charges but whenever u download any content u will be charges at normal rate 1ps/kb.
    i had activated rs 95 plan but i cant even use it as my normal talktime also get reduce. whenever u ever download any songs u will be charged for the download.
    i had contacted the customer care but they said that they provide only free browsing not downloading...
    they had done fraudlent activity.

    it is better to have Airtel or other service provider as they provide what they says. as downloading means downlaoding.....

    DOCOMO is the worst GPRS i have seen... I got 95Rs plan and from past 13 days no connection .... calling to their customer care is a waste nobody not even the NODAL officer by name meera is helping.

    Use bsnl or airtel or idea because they are clear about their plans. But i use bsnl 230 unlimited plans from 1 year and it's speed is good. I am connect with 4 year ago and i got problem rarely. They treat internet as internet not as wap or www . I have cheked its speed 11kbps avg and max 35kbps .you can check it just type gprs speed check on google. And i know that i cant get speed more than 100kbps on edge in india. "use airtel 89 or 95 plan if you don't want to download something on mobile".So best of luck my friend.

    In logoko educate koro,yaar.Vdfn also charges 1p/1kb xcept few live packs.Those r also nt unlimited.Got me?
  • h3y guyz can u all stop fighting over this docomo and aircel shit, just try vodafone, there is no activation charges, it is pre activated. the speed is fantastic. if you use the net for more than 1 hour u wil be charged 10rs, after that use full day and night, its free, free, and free. because this is happening with me, and so i hav to say,orange, hutch, vodafone, whicheva is possible, it rocks, and dontg 4rget that even bpl is gud at gprs a7 bpl is a vodafone company.

    NOW I WANA SUGGEST YOU IF U REALLY WANA CHOOSE BEST AND CHEAP THEN FOLLOW THESE PROCEDURE.

    STEP1- INSTALL UBUNTU (LINUX) ON PC ON SOME OTHER DRIVE LIKE D E OR F, NORMALLY PC HAVE PARTION IN HARD DISK., SO YOU WILL GET DOUBLE BOOTING.

    STEP-2- UBUNTU DOESNOT NEED MODEM DRIVER AS ALREADY INSTALLED.

    STEP-3-BUY AIRCEL PREPAID AND ACTIVATE GPRS AT 98/-

    STEP-4- UBUNTU DOESNOT HAVE AIRCEL SETTING BUT YOU CAN CONFIGURE WITH AIRTEL SETTING JUST NEED TO CHANGE DNS SERVER.

    STEP-5- BELEIVE ME YOU WILL GET SPEED 15-30KBPS, WHIOCH IS NORMALLY 2-8KBPS, BASIC NET FASCILITY .

    I m using BSNL 230 plan and it is best DOCOMO and AIRCELL are not efficient for PC surfing. and BSNL network as well as speed is good enough for email and also picture viewing 230 KBPS.

    totaly useless that 100mb will be end in one day itself and for 100mb they cost 95 too much ...... then the aircel in thousand times better than tata docomo.. now i am using docomo but ones number portability will be applied i will change to aircel
    and the above post is wrong how can u say it is unlimited?????

    hi anurag...i just wamt to know whether 95 rs plan which gives 100 mb for 1 month is enough for only surfing net through phone...no download.can it last for a month period

    Tata docomo is the best service and i have bought it just after using reliance. The GPRS connection in docomo is a bit slower that reliance but itz plans are just superb.
    Does unlimited internet means tht we can download how much ever we require or just within 20MB. Does this 20MB also refers to the browsing data?

    I think bsnl prepaid is best 230 rs. for unlimited gprs on pc and mobile and speed is best among all network
    normally i got around 6kBPS to 15 kBps
  • 1p/1kb is a good bet for them who just use it to surf or to check emails.

    Hi guys,

    I have tried both Docomo and Aircel (prepaid), i think its not unlimited gprs. It gets charged if we browse beyond the allocated MB of data. I lost lot of money by just browsing.

    Customer care agents are very dumb idiots and they lie a lot. Pls let me know if there are any others who provide unlimited gprs.

    It is not unlimited plan, for Rs 15 20mb free for 3days and for RS 95 100mb free for 30days

    Final Thought- Aircel is truely worst in every place
    (checked where i visit).
    May b good for some folks.

    Avoid it.Atleast u will save your most presious time.


    one serious thing if u r activating gprs DON"T FORGET TO SET A REMINDER FOR GPRS VALIDITY.OTHER WILL IT WILL
    EAT YOUR BALANCE LIKE A HUNGRY GOD.

    Currently I use SIFY at home.

    But on the move within Mumbai, I carry my laptop with me, but Its just a laptop without Internet.

    So I heard that DOCOMO has launched a GPRS Unlimited plan for Rs.95 per month.

    But Aircel too launched Pocket Internet plan for rs.98 per month, but that pack was unlimited oonly if we use on mobile, & when I used that pack with my laptop, aircel deducted the data downloading charges.

    Prashant, my query is that:-

    Tata claims that the plan is unlimited for both PC & mobile. BUt does it mean that if I use it with my laptop it will give me unlimited downloading & browsing without any extra cost.

    And do also advise me what is the minimum data downloading speed. As I get a data downloading speed of 30Kb/sec with a 256KBPS Sify net pack.

    Ask the retailer to recharge for "Special Pack" for Rs.95. Many of the retailers don't know it is for GPRS pack. But, simply ask them, they will do. Some of the retailers ask "Have you got any SMS?", just say yes!

    Aircel sucked my brains.

    It had a very poor network in Mumbai.

    But Thanks to Tata DOCOMO with a good , strong & economically money saving network for providing 1paise/sec pulse rate.

    I know how bad Aircel is, it's network sucks so much that you can't even call customer care. Anyway, I am getting this Docomo GPRS package myself to test drive & do let you know how it is :)
  • This scheme does not sound all that convincing, considering that Aircel already had something on these lines. But the fact is Aircel GPRS connection sucks. Its pathetically slow and cannot even load gmail properly
