Transaction failure at ATM & money got debited from your account? You must get your money back in 12days! Says RBI
I wrote before on Tech Bangalore about transaction errors at ATM. Once I got a transaction failure error when withdrawing money from ATM & didn’t get any cash, but money got debited from my account!! I called customer care right away, but it took 35 days to get back the money. Lot of people faced the same problem, many got it back, many didn’t!! They all commented on my blogpost seeking help, but I was helpless myself!
Now RBI (Reserve Bank of India) has sent a circular to all banks about Reconciliation of transactions at ATMs failure. As per that, the bank which the cutomer hold his account with, must return the money back to the customer’s account within 12 working days from the date of complaint. If bank fails to do that, it has to credit customers account Rs.100 everyday after 12 days until they return the money.
So, if you end up with a transaction failure at ATMs, contact customer support imeedietly. Keep the transaction receipt for reference & also note down the reference number for the complaint you registered. Hope no worries now!!

in times of today when RBI is thinking to put an end to all this mishaps and if anything occurs at all will be solved soon…things r getting more complex…
for this also i ask y 12 days…
it doesn’t even take 12 seconds for the machine to commit such a mistake…then y such delay with our money…
this is rubbish…
if crores of cheques can be cleared in a single day then y not these problems be solved wih 24-48 hrs….

Is it for intra-bank transfer ??
i have made an trasaction from 3 banks and none of the transaction was successful on 10th of aug month.. from noida 34 sector from hdfc, axis,& idbi … 4500 rs was being debited from my account … when i checked my account the next day….
my self is rajesh chandra binwal.i have made an trasaction from state bank of india,Sector-62,noida for 10,000 Rs on 25/11/2009.due some problem in ATM machine i can’t get any money. but amount is debited from my account.i don’t know what was actual fault.but amount is not credit in my account upto till date(9/1/2010).
my bank name is punjab national bank & my account no. is 2414000101088043.i have already mention a complain in pnb call centre.my complain number is 22250476.but no action is done on my complained.
